Work in China as an English Teacher
Across the Seas has partnered with numerous schools in China to recruit qualified applicants from native English speaking countries to work as English instructors for students ranging from high school to kindergarten. Currently, we have openings primarily in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an and other major cities in China. This program offers you the chance to work as a full time English teacher in a classroom environment. No native Chinese language skills required and the program offers competitive compensation and benefits. If you wish to be an English Teacher in China, we will assist you to achieve your dreams.
Work hours: Normal work hour is around 25 class hours and 15 preparation hours per week.
Working schedule: Day classes; Five days a week.
Working location: Various cities in China.
Student age: kindergarten(3--6 years old); primary school (7--12 years old); middle school (13-15 years old); high school (15-18 years old).
Class size: Varies, usually 20 students.
Curriculum: Focus is on conversation fluency, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary building, and passing standardized tests (SAT/SSAT/ACT/TOFEL). Instructors will also introduce students to American literature and culture. Curricula guidelines are provided.
Qualifications for the Program
Native English speaker only
Bachelor's degree and above, preferably majoring in education or English
Prior teaching experience or TESOL / TEFL certification is preferred
Seriousness in continuing with the program for at least a year
No criminal record
Chinese language skills not required
One year contract, renewable with longer contract term according to mutual agreement up to five years.
Compensations and Benefits
Annual base salary of ¥120,000 RMB to ¥240,000 RMB ($20,000 to $40,000), depending on the school and teacher's experience. Generous compensation package including many types of bonus and insurance, allowance for housing and transportation, etc. (varies by school).
Other benefits include paid vacation, foreign expert certificate, working visa, flight ticket, etc.
11 days public holiday vacations throughout the year. Some schools provide paid vacations.
